Following Trump's appointment of Musk and Ramaswamy to DOGE, Elizabeth Warren becomes cynical: "Yeah, this looks incredibly effective."

After President-elect Donald Trump announced Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as leaders of the new Department of Government Efficiency, aimed at reducing government waste, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) criticized the decision, noting that two people were appointed to handle a single role.

“The Office of Government Efficiency is off to a great start with split leadership: two people to do the work of one person,” Warren wrote on X, sarcastically adding, “Yeah, this seems REALLY efficient.”

Trump said in a statement that Musk and Ramaswamy "will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies."

Trump described the team, nicknamed "DOGE," as an outside advisory group partnering with the White House and the Office of Management & Budget to drive major structural reforms and bring a new, entrepreneurial approach to government.

Musk invited the public to share suggestions for government cuts, promising transparency. “All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency. Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or missing wasteful items, just let us know! We’ll even have a leaderboard for the most outrageously dumb spending of your tax dollars. It will be both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining,” he tweeted.

Ramaswamy, who endorsed Trump after ending his GOP presidential bid in January, added on X, “DOGE will soon begin crowdsourcing examples of government waste, fraud, & abuse. Americans voted for drastic government reform & they deserve to be part of fixing it.”

Sen. Warren also voiced concerns over Trump’s choice of Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, arguing he was unqualified for the role.

“A Fox & Friends weekend co-host is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense,” Warren stated on X. “I lead the Senate military personnel panel. All three of my brothers served in uniform. I respect every one of our servicemembers. Donald Trump’s pick will make us less safe and must be rejected.”

Hegseth, an author and Army veteran with two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman's Badge, recently left Fox, with his final day being Tuesday. Trump, in a statement, praised Hegseth as “a courageous and patriotic champion of our ‘Peace through Strength’ policy.”
