Bill Gates is ringing in his 69th birthday with love and laughter, thanks to sweet messages from his daughters, Jennifer and Phoebe. In honor of his special day on Monday, Oct. 28, the Gates sisters each shared touching tributes.
Phoebe, 22, humorously celebrated her dad’s unique communication style in a playful social media post. “Happy Birthday, Dad!” the Stanford grad wrote, calling her father her “favorite person” who often “texts me to let me know he’s going to send me an email.” Last month, Gates shared that this quirky routine was a “compromise” between the two. In his blog, he reflected on their dynamic, especially after a conversation with Phoebe in his Netflix docuseries *What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates*. He admitted he found it amusing “when she told me never to email her.” Now, he humorously texts her before emailing, and they’ve even started talking more on the phone.
Jennifer, the eldest of Gates’ three children with ex-wife Melinda French Gates, took a nostalgic turn. She shared Halloween-themed throwbacks, including a photo of herself as Snow White, with her dad by her side at the crafts table, and a recent image of the two grinning in costume. “In honor of Halloween this week, and this guy’s birthday!” Jennifer captioned, wishing her dad a great day.
Earlier this month, Jennifer celebrated another milestone—her third wedding anniversary with her husband, Nayel Nassar. Posting a tribute with a wedding photo, she wrote, “10/16/21 ✨ cheers to us, our little family, and all the beautiful moments that lie ahead.” Gates, who’s also a proud grandparent to Jennifer’s 1-year-old daughter Lelia and eagerly awaiting the couple’s second child, added his own sweet words, saying, “Your love—and growing family—have brought so much joy into our lives.”
